Come Hell or High Water

Lord have mercy, what a week! The floods of Hurricane Katrina brought to the surface the harsh fact tht America entered a new century with the same old problems of class and race — the haves vs the have nots. If George W Bush and the head of FEMA aren’t busy pitching a new reality series to Fox called “So You Think You Can Evacuate,” then maybe W can star his mother in a revival of the sitcom “That’s My Mama.” I guess you heard what she said to an NPR reporter while touring Houston’s Astrodome, a building filled with Hurricane Katrina survivors. If you didn’t, here’s the best part: “…so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this — this is working very well for them.” Yes, she said that…with her man-on-the-Quaker Oats box-lookin’ self. The former First Lady said that to NPR. NBC censored rapper Kanye West for criticizing her son for his lack of presidential compassion towards Black folks left homeless after the storm. And so it goes. Take care of yourself this weekend. Let’s all say a prayer of remembrance on Sunday. Oh! One last thing. W is fond of photo ops when he needs to repair his image. When he finally got around to addressing the hurricane disaster, he was whisked down to New Orleans where he was photographed hugging Black people. He looked as natural as a fish on a motorcycle. Has anyone seen any pics of The Bush Girls handing out food and water to storm survivors? Donating some of their Happy Hour money to the Red Cross? Just wondering.

    Cheney Gets Told…

    quoting:
“…the transcript: Off camera, a protester shouts, “Go f–k yourself, Mr. Cheney. Go f–k yourself.” The camera remains on Cheney while we hear scuffling in the background.

CNN’s reporter asks Cheney, “Are you getting a lot of that Mr. Vice President?”

Cheney replies, “First time I’ve heard it., Must be a friend of John…, er, ah – never mind.”

Cheney laughs it off, but there are many people dead that aren’t laughing right now.”

    Hey Bobby,

    Love the new format.

The lack of genuine concern or timely response seems to be par for the course of this administration. Once again the public is being asked to open their ever shrinking pocketbooks to assist fellow citizens in need. While big business reaps tax deffered profits at the expense of the poor and sickly.

Maybe, just maybe we will see a turn in the tideand the senseless deaths of so many will stand for something.

Today I feel that there is a better chance of Santa fulfilling my Prada wishlist. But we’ll see.

I went back and read some old posts as the awards were on tonight..and I, like Mr R picked up Mama Bush’s statement of “This works very well for them”. I think if there were awards given for the Most Insulting, most stupid, most embarassing quote of 2005…George Washington in drag (and 80pds) would be the hands down winner.
Hey My Key chain counting down to bush’s last hour should be here this week
